Hello and welcome to MarissaKathleen.com! The new home of the photography business formerly known as Amethyst Photography. It’s taken me a while to figure exactly how I wanted to be known, or for me to discover my “brand” as it were, in this industry.
One of my biggest struggles in this business has been deciding on exactly HOW I want to run my business. Living in a military town, with lots and lots of other aspiring photographers, it can be hard to pull yourself up and stand out among the crowd. This blog is not only to introduce myself, but it’s a way to hold myself accountable to the promises I not only make to you, my clients, but also to myself.
I’ve done the research. I’ve studied the business aspects of this industry. I’ve spent years improving my skills as a photographer. I’ve kept my mind open and ready to learn all that I can from my peers and my own mistakes. I’m ready to do things MY way.
I’ve had a love of photography for as long as I can remember! I fell in love with photo shop and editing in high school. I went through ALL the phases. The funky borders, selective color, my black and white phase, extreme vignette on my pictures. You name the amateur photographer cliche and I probably did it!
But after all of those phases, I have finally come to what I believe all great photographers strive for. Capturing split second moments in time, with perfect lighting, perfect clarity, and that tell a story, for all the world to see. Or maybe just my clients family and friends. Both are “worlds” in their own right.
So what am I now? I’m a photographer. A seeker of truth in the moment. A hunter of the light, or the perfect angle. That little hint of a smile hiding just behind a person’s eyes. A belly laugh. Love, in all its forms. Happiness and joy.
My promise to all my future clients, and myself, is to fulfill all your photographic needs, to the best of my ability. I want to be your one-stop shop for all things photography. Let me be there for all your moments. Pregnancy, and birth. First birthdays and second birth announcements! I will be your “spot” to get the perfect wall art to show off your gorgeous family. Or an album for guests to see and for you to look back on. Maybe high quality prints to send to family that lives far away. Plus, as a military spouse, I understand the importance of social media. So every picture purchased as a print product, comes with the social media sized digital copy, for you to share with family and friends, near and far.
I hope that we can team up, and I can find those moments for you. Let’s go on an adventure!
